The multiple-award winning ESP® system assists the driver in just about every critical driving situation. That includes emergency and partial braking manoeuvres and incipient skidding incidents, which the system rapidly identifies and reduces in severity by timely, targeted braking of individual wheels.
Driving safety is significantly increased by this active support of the driver during tricky manoeuvres where there is risk of skidding.
Additionally, ESP® stabilises the vehicle during normal braking, starting off and accelerating, since it also includes the functions of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and the traction control system (TCS).
The Bosch ESP simulator provides a two and half minute real time ride, demonstrating how the Electronic Stability Program technology works and how it can assist in avoiding an accident.
The Bosch ESP simulator provides a “ride” through two potentially dangerous, real life motoring situations utilising high quality graphics and a moving sit-in simulator.
The first scenario is a dramatic lane change manoeuvre. You are driving in the middle lane of a freeway and a vehicle in the inside lane suddenly swerves to avoid an object in the road. You have to take immediate evasive action. You swing right and then left to avoid the vehicle and as a consequence the car becomes unstable and starts to oversteer. This is when ESP kicks in. It brakes individual wheels to maintain stability and allow the driver to maintain safe control. You avoid the vehicle in front and continue your journey as normal.
The second scenario. You leave the freeway at a junction and the road has a much sharper bend than you expect. The car starts to oversteer towards the barrier. In a split second ESP again brakes individual wheels and the car maintains a safe course around the bend avoiding a potential accident.
Take part in this exciting demonstration of a vital safety feature no car should be without.
